Alaskan Adventure - On The Road - July 18, 2014

The six of us (Al and Joyce, Arlen and Virginia, and Glenn and I) started  our long weekend.  The plan is to drive to Valdez today and take the Columbia Glacier Cruise tomorrow.

We drove out the Richardson Highway from Fairbanks.  It was a beautiful day for travel.

We ate at a little roadhouse cafe.  Here is a picture.

This was a good place to stop.

Back on the road again, we saw the pipeline as it followed the road.

   Pipeline bridge.

Pipeline zig zag.  Why you ask?

More info onthe pipeline.

The scenery along the way was just beautiful!    I love the mountains.  I could view their beauty all day.  The pictures do not do justice.

We saw numerous glaciers along the way.

From the majestic mountains...

    ....To the tiny wild flowers...

    ....To the rushing water falls...

     ....God's beautiful creation was amazing!

Our final destination was the fishing village of Valdez.  More famous for the pipeline.

    Tankers.

    Oil refinery in the distance.

    Town of Valdez

Fishermen cleaning their catch of the day.

I know, I know...not very pleasing to the eye but... It is what it is....

Here is a picture that is pure beauty.

Tomorrow we cruise Valdez Bay out to the glaciers. Hoping for another nice day.
