Visiting family and friends - trekking to Arizona

We have been real busy since the convention and have traveled many miles.  After the convention, we spent a few days in Branson, MO.  I enjoy going there and seeing a few shows.  This time we saw Moses at the Sight and Sound theater.  It was a wonderful show!

I can't find my pictures.

We then went "home" near Savannah to see the family.  Since we sold our house, we parked the RV at Whispering Pines not far from my daughter's home.  We had a fun time with the boys. And, I always have fun with Kelly shopping and eating our "traditional" lunch at Spanky's.   I love the fall, and we were able to take the grandsons to a pumpkin patch. The time together was so much fun.

It was hard to leave.

We are on our way to Arizona to spend Christmas with our other daughter and family before heading on to the next RV MAPS project.

When we reached Louisiana, we visited with Glenn's nephew and his wife for a short time.  We really enjoyed seeing them.  David and Heather took us out in his boat on the river not far from their house.

We docked for a cool drink along the way then headed down the river again.

It was a beautiful day.

That evening, we ate a cajun fish place. The food was delicious. Thank you David and Heather for a lovely time.

I have been wanting to see a friend from my high school days when we lived in Electra, TX.  Glenn was so sweet to take a little detour to make that happen.  Gwen and I had not seen each other for 50 years!  For a time, we had lost contact but through FB we connected again.  It just so happens that she lives not far from Waco, TX and if you watch HGTV, you will know that Fixer, Upper is based in Waco.  We had a wonderful time catching up, and we were able to see the sights around Waco.

Gwen and Tommy took us around to see the old beautiful homes in Waco and out to see the Magnolia Farms where Chip and Joanna live.

I can't tell you how much this visit means to me.  Thank you Glenn for letting me see my longtime friend.  Thanks to Gwen and Tommy for the wonderful time you have shown us.  Hopefully next time we can stay longer.

U.S. MAPS RV CONVENTION - OCTOBER 2016

This first week in October is the MAPS RV Convention.  This was our third convention (we missed last years).  We always enjoy convention where many RV Volunteers join together for services, presentation of projects, fun and fellowship.

The first morning, we were invited to a breakfast cookout.  Even though it was raining, the food was delicious and the company even better.

The first day was registration and seeing old friends.

We had a sea of red vest with many patches.  The patches are representative of projects work.  We tease each other that we work for patches.

Our new director, Billy Thomas, welcoming everyone.

The services were great and the singing amazing.

One afternoon the ladies gather together for a time of fellowship and fun.

We always have a theme and this year was no different.  The theme was the 60's.  Here are a few pictures of the evening.

There were several acts and we were visited by Johnny Cash, the Herman's Hermits, The Supremes and Sonny and Cher.  My video of Sonny and Cher wouldn't post but Sonny and Cher aka Joyce and Al were hilarious.  There were a couple of others making a night of fun.

We didn't dress up too much but Glenn had made a tie-died shirt and I was a flower child.
(Not what I wore in the  60's)

Convention time is always fun and a great blessing.
