Before and After, South Campus, Trinity Church,Miami

Our time in Miami  was cut short by the birth of our new grandson, Maxwell.  Mother and baby are doing fine.  We praise The Lord for His blessings to us.

I want to show the progress of the MAPS RV project by showing beforehand after pictures up to the time we left.  The project was to take an existing building and make 6 dorm rooms for the college students of Trinity Church and their satellite campus of Southeastern University.

Here are the before and after pics.

The large room was transformed into 6 bedrooms. Here the men are building the walls.

Hall way leading to three of the rooms.

This is the shower area.  Three showers were installed along the green wall.

Making a laundry room.  Cutting the space.

Joyce painting on primer in the laundry room area.

Six rooms ready for paint then carpet.

Joyce and Georgie -- primer team.

They primed all six bedrooms and a large break room and a large room that will be used as a study room.  Great job girls!

The large break room was where we had our devotions, break time.

The last day we were there, we had an anniversary party for March anniversaries in the break room.

Also, new kitchen counter tops were installed and two extra cabinets installed. Don't know why I couldn't find my before and after pics

---------------

There  is a small house next door that was renovated for house parents.

The old sheet rock was removed and some supporting beams replaced due to mold from water damage.

A portion of the wall was removed for an open concept between what will be the kitchen and living room area.

The week before we left, insulation was installed.

New tub installed.

Sheet rock was going up and muddying was probably completed when we left.

We really enjoyed this project and made lasting MAPS RV friends.

Seventh week - South Campus, Trinity Church, Miami

We "marched" onward this week.

See this.....

.... It is now this......actually the hall way is finished with the newly selected tile.

Also, tile for the showers have been started.

Georgie is great at painting.

She also painted a bathroom.

The design team want the mirror cabinet painted white, so that is another day.

The small house next door should be ready for dry wall soon.  Old
walls were taken out and some remoldling of the rooms are almost complete.

Closet hardware going in the dorm room building.

This was Valentine's Day week, and yes, we had a party!

Joyce plans great events for us.

Some silliness thrown in.  Jan and Les won the old married game, based on the fashion of the newlywed game.

And of course our group Valentine's Day dinner was enjoyed by all.

Saturday some of us took a boat ride around Miami.

Star Island reminded me of the song, "I've Got A Mansion"

What a week!!

Sixth Week - South Campus, Trinity Church, Miami

This week has brought significant change to the South Campus dorm.

All three shower stalls are assembled and set in.

John is measuring for the tile to go in the showers and the walls went up this week.

    Shower area.

Al started spraying a texture on the walls.

Glenn was master mixer of the "mud".

You playing in the mud again?  Hurry up, Al is waiting!

John and Mike started laying the tile in the hallways.

Floor looks good and is going to be so nice.

More remoldling began.  A building next door to the dorm is to be used as a teachers living quarters.   Glenn and Jack started tearing out walls that were damaged by termites, flooding and mold.

These two rooms will be a living room/ kitchen combination.

Of course some fun time was planned in and on Wednesday a young man from the church arranged a tour of Sun Life Stadium.  Home of the Miami Dolphins!  Thank you Orlando!!

He played in a championship game for Lousiana State.  That is one huge ring and heavy too.

Here are a few pictures of our tour.

Gate G lobby.

New Dolphin logo.  I like it.  Shows the strength of the dolphin as he soars out of the water into the sun filled sky.

The field was being prepared for Monster Trucks.

One of the "plush" club rooms.

Orlando and Sarah talking to us about what we do as MAPERS and they told us a little about their work with Sales for the Dolphins.

         Field picture taken, then....

...we were led to the Dolphins locker room.

Our names were placed above the lockers.  Everyone got their picture taken.

(Glenn couldn't be with me because he was picking up our truck after the water pump had to be replaced $$).

Our date night dinner was at Shorty's BBQ.   No pic, but sure was good food!
