Home

We arrived "home" mid August and parked the rv at the Lott's Island RV Park.

We had planned to attend the MAPS RV convention but my doctors appointment interfered. I had a small skin cancer removed from right above my ankle.

While here, we were able to go to Dylan and Drew's football games.

We also got to attend Drew's band concert. He played four percussion instruments.

I loved the kettle drums.

One day we took the boys to a fun zone. We all had a great time.

I don't know why these pics are funky. I can't resize them. I think I need to search a different blog engine. Blogger is no longer user friendly.

We weathered a storm while here. Hurricane Michael. Even though it wasn't as bad as predicted here, we were glad we moved the rv away from trees and stayed with my brother and SIL. We had a nice time with David and Brenda.

We also went to the Greek festival with them. It was my first time even though I have lived in Savannah many years. The food was delicious and the music and traditional dancing fun to watch. I wish I had taken more pictures.

Our last Sunday here was Homecoming. It was nice seeing long time friends.

On a sad note, we had to put our sweet Zada Girl down. It was getting hard for her to breathe and xray showed an enlarged heart and a mass pressing on her heart. We miss our little girl.

Remission

On August 8: 2018, we got the word that Glenn’s PET scan was good and he is now in remission!!

Seven weeks after his last chemo treatment, we were elated to get some good news.
We are so grateful to the pastors Kevin and Melanie and the church at Winnie, TX for letting us use their RV hookups!  They made a most stressful time easier.

—————

Today is August 17, 2018. We left Winnie, TX on Saturday. August 11. We had tried to hook up the RV the day before bc we wanted to turn the RV around so that we could pull out early the next morning and also cut the grass where the RV had set.  But, the stabilizers on the passenger side would not go up. We were at a loss as to what to do. We knew the panel needed replacing and the part was waiting on us in Savannah. (That’s another story). We called a Mobil RV repair service but they couldn’t get there until late. So we cancelled for the evening and expected them the next morning.

The next morning, low and behold, Glenn tried to raise the stabilizers again and they worked. We canceled the mobile repair and headed on down the road. It had rained, so we didn’t get to cut the grass.

We made it to Gulfport, MS and stayed at the Shields RV Park the SeaBees military base. It is a real nice park and since the trip zapped Glenn’s energy, we stayed a few days. Glenn has a good day and then a couple of  bad days. We were able to get out a little and see a little bit of Gulfport and Biloxi.

When we were ready to hookup to leave, we were both apprehensive if the stabilizers would go up, but they did.  However, on Glenn’s walk around inspection, he noticed a bolt missing and the leaf spring broken. What to do??

I googled trailer repair businesses and one was not too far away. So we head out, going slowly to the repair shop.  After 2 hrs and 45 min, we were back on the road again.

Our next stop was near Blackshear, GA on the Florida, Georgia borders on Lake Seminole.  We checked in at Eastbank COE Park. Again, Glenn was not up to driving the next day so we spent two nights. I wish we could have stayed.  It is a beautiful park and lake.

We arrived Savannah, Lott’s Island, Hunter Army Airfield this afternoon. Aug 17. Again, Glenn is not feeling too good.  He says he feels “nervous “.    Oh, yea, .... the stabilizers won’t go down on the passenger side.  Frustrating.

Houston We Have A Problem

I know it’s been a long time since I blogged but, life is day  by day

We came to Texas to work with our volunteer ministry, RV MAPS, in January 2018. The project was to repair a church damaged by hurricane Harvey. Glenn did work a few days but a lingering cough continued to get worse.  One evening he coughed so much that it was hard to catch his breath.  He had to use his CPAP machine to get air.

The next morning, Jan 31, we made the 56 mile trip to the VA hospital ER in Houston. He was admitted and after a series of test, on February 9, 2018, we were told he has lymphoma in his right lung.

On February 16, Glenn started a regime of RCHOP chemo therapy.  Every 21 days.

We stayed with our group of rvers because we decided to continue with the chemo treatments at the VA hospital in Houston.  And, I had a great support group of friends.

After our friends left, when the project was finished, a dear pastor told us we could use the RV hookups at their church.  We are so very grateful.  It was hard seeing our friends leave.

We are trusting the Lord to carry us through.  We believe in Devine healing.

Glenn went in on June 6 for his sixth and last scheduled chemo treatment (RCHOP). He has been coughing more than usual so his oncologist called in a pulmonary dr to look at him. They suspect some sort of infection and have run many test. As I write this, today is day 14 that he has been in the hospital and we still do not have any answers.  He has not had the 6th RCHOP. Since chemo destroys the immune system, the oncologist did not want to give the chemo until the infection is identified and treated.

Today, June 18, has been hard because I didn’t drive in to Houston.  Glenn didn’t want me driving because of the weather.  We have had downpours off and on all day.  Driving to Houston is scary anyway for me.

Even though we have been provided a safe place to park the RV, and the pastors have been wonderful, I miss my family and RV friends. Sometimes feelings of defeat enter my thoughts but I know the Lord is with us.

I miss traveling and wonder if we will ever hit the road again.

Deuteronomy 31: 6
Be strong and of good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them; for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

July 27, 2018. Update

After 16 days in the hospital and a series of test, CT scan, Bronchoscope, and a CT guided lung biopsy.; they went in from his back, Glenn finally received his 6th chemo treatment on the evening of June 19.  He was released on the 20th.

Still no results from the test except that the biopsy of his lung revealed a lot of fluid and scar tissue.  They didn’t see any live cancer cells!  After the drainage, his cough improved greatly. We are still waiting for all the test results but upon release, the doctor did say they feel the Lymphoma fully responded to the chemo. Praise God!!!

He has several appointments between now and the 7th of August. He needs to get another PET scan. We are believing it will be clear. Until then, we are still in Texas.

Side note: Our daughter, Kelly and our youngest grandson visited us in Texas. It was good medicine.
