MAPS RV Project -Teen Challenge, Dublin, GA.

This blog covers some of the work the guys did the week before Christmas break.

The shingles on the building being renovated, had to be removed by a special hired team so our guys had to work on another project on the Teen Challenge property.  The guys started the demolition on a small building that is to renovated for a wood shop.

     Debris being burned.

After the shingles were removed, new OSB had to be installed.

Looking over the plan for materials to be ordered.

After the Christmas and New Years break, the rest of our group will be arriving.  Our group will be growing to about eleven couples.  See the RVs on the right? This will be our real estate (wheel estate) for the next three months or so.

The Teen Challenge campus is in a rural area of Georgia on GA Hwy 441 with wooded areas and cotton fields.

On to a personal note:

Even though it was only for a couple of weeks, I did decorate my RV for Christmas.  I do love decorating even in a small space.

MAPS Project at Teen Challenge - Dublin, GA

We arrived at the new MAPS project on Wednesday, December 9,  but Al and Joyce, and Gary and Stephanie had already begun work.  The project is to remodel the existing building into offices.

Here is a view of the building.

Demolition has begun...

Much work has already been accomplished.  Before we arrived, Al and Gary put in more RV sites for the crew that will be coming after Christmas. I believe there will be eleven couples on this job. Most of us worked in Miami together so we feel like "family".

After we got here, the guys set up our gathering space.

As I previously mentioned, the demolition has already begun.

   Inside walls removed.

Capping off a water line. Oops.

Dumpster number one. I'm sure there will be many, many more filled.

While the men were tearing out cinder block walls, us ladies were baking cookies for a Christmas party for the residents here.

We failed to get many pictures. We baked around 14 dozen of various kinds of cookies plus candies.

This was after clean up. We had a large kitchen and an industrial oven. It was back breaking fun. Ha ha. No seriously, we did have a good time baking.

Here is a pic of the goodies table.

We had a little fun on Saturday.

We went to the local talent ballet as they presented their version of the Nutcracker.  I thought they did very good and the little girls were so cute.
