Fourth Week - Trinity Church, Miami Gardens

The men (and women) have really been working this past week and getting  a lot accomplished. Two of the women (Mary B. and Georgie B) painted doors (sorry I failed to get pictures).

New cabinets for the kitchen are being assembled.

After the old cabinets were removed, mold was discovered.  Spraying down with bleach should take care of that problem.

Roughing in the electrical.

Bless Les' heart.  Even in a back brace he is "trucking" right along and Mike is an excellent apprentice.

These two "talk too much" but two heads are sometime better than one.  Jack and Glenn discussing the plumbing.

There are going to be three shower stalls.

Measure twice,  cut once.

Dry wall going up.

Yep!!... Our fearless project manager, Al, works too.

Joyce busy sweeping.

At the end of the week we enjoy eating together.

Those ribs sure look good!!

This Saturday we all went to Flamingo Gardens

Decorated Flamingos were a hoot!!

All enjoyed the day!!

Third Week - Trinity Church, Miami Gardens

We completed a third week and the rooms for the students are taking shape. A total of six room are framed in and now waiting on the electrical for the rooms.

There was a small room with just a sink in it so the men enlarged the opening to give the students a washer and dryer.

Here they are cutting the doorway.

Now the doorway is wide enough that a washer and dryer should fit nicely.

These walls are where three shower stalls are going to be.

We really enjoy times together.

Thursday night is group date night!

We are so glad that Joyce made it from snow country.  Let the fun times begin!!!

We had the privilege of attending Girlfriend Conference here at Trinity.

Joyce Meyer, and CeCe Winans were guest speakers.  Everyone enjoyed their ministry.

We now have seven RVs and another is due in soon.

We added another screened room.

Loving the Florida sun and meeting new friends.

Second Week - day 1 and 2. Trinity Church (South Campus)

This is our second week and the work at south campus has begun! The men are building dorm rooms for the students.   (A satellite campus of Southeastern University).  Other MAPS RVers are pulling in and setting up their home on wheels.  Mike and Dodie pulled in on Sunday and Less and Jan pulled in on Monday. Less fell from his rig getting snow off while on his way down to FL and is now in a body brace.  Bless his heart,  he is a trouper to not let this set back get him down.

At 9:30 each day, the ladies drive over to the south campus for breaktime. Today and yesterday I took some pictures of what the men are doing.

Just two of the rooms being remolded.

Break Time

Metal wall studs.  Building a wall.

Moving wall into location.

Team work

Making sure it is plumb.

That nail gun (or whatever it is called) is sure loud!

Our mascot?  He lives in the stone.  Al ask the ladies to name him!  Any suggestions? Haha

Apparently he has lived here for a couple of years.  See the bread; someone feeds him. Looks like he has a pretty good home and doesn't harm anyone,  so let him stay.

First week in Miami 2014

We arrived in Miami (Miami Gardens) on January 4th. We set up our camper at our new MAPS RV project at Trinity Church in Miami Gardens. The weather was rainy and cooler than South Floridians are use to.  It seems we got part of the Polar Vortex that gripped most of the country.

Glenn and I traveled back to Savannah on Sunday so that Glenn could get his hearing aids on Monday;  then back to Miami on Monday after his appointment.  Well worth the trip.  Now he can hear even a whisper.

Only a few of us have arrived and the job focus has changed. The men were to take a wall down but now they are going to remodel a building on the South Campus for students to take college courses from Southeastern University as a satellite campus.

Mary and I went to the South Campus to help sweep debris after carpeting was taken up.  Next week we will help the men at that location cleaning or whatever is needed.

It is not all work and no play....yesterday afternoon Mary, Georgie and I went shopping a little. Georgie has been here before and showed us where a variety of shops are located.  In the evening we all went out to eat.

Today, Saturday, we finally set up our easy up shealter  and all enjoyed the Florida breeze.

After we visited awhile, Glenn and I drove out to the beaches.

We walked along the boardwalk for awhile.  The ocean breeze felt so good on a warm day.

It seems like we walked for miles.  But I enjoyed the time together.

After returning to the truck, we drove on further south to the South Beach end.

This is the famous Ocean Blvd.

Sights of the city on the way back to our home on wheels.

Cruise line vessels in view.

There were about four lined up.  Wish I was scheduled to depart.

Someday maybe I will get to travel the Norwegian Epic.
I hear the amazing Blue Man Group entertains aboard the Norwegian Epic.  That would be so nice.
