MAPS RV Project - Teen Challenge, Dublin, GA - Jan 25 - 29, 2016

We've had rain, cold nights, and beautiful Georgia sun; really a mixed bag of weather but the men keep working.  The following is this weeks story in pictures.

This is the entrance to the new administration office building.

The sand had to be shoveled and packed in preparation for the concrete.

Windows installed.

We have lots of electrical work. So thankful for these guys.

Building walls and .....

    ......remodeling walls....

    ...and painting walls.

.....and preparing floors.  John is our tile expert.

Looks like the trusses are up over the walkway and now the roof is going on.

Jerry and Carolyn Abercrombie paid us a visit on Thursday. We were so happy they could stop by to see the progress on the project and eat with us for our Thursday date night.

   Jerry Abercrombie.

Our group grew by four recently. We welcome Ernie and Lolita Pender and Brad and Mandy Vowell.

MAPS RV Project - Teen Challenge, Dublin, GA - Jan 18~22, 2016

It's been another busy week here at the Teen Challenge facilities.  And in spite of rainy cold weather, the men has accomplished much.

The walls in the building that will house the offices are coming right along.

Jack and Allan are busy working on the plumbing for the office building.

Rain and the cold days didn't stop the building.

The trusses for the overhang walkway was being constructed in between rain drops.

They have a ways to go....

Meanwhile,

Roy was busy mudding in the rooms that are being converted to bedrooms and shower area.

This building is being converted to bedrooms, showers and a small kitchen.

Jan has been helping in the office. And putting out fires...

You're doing great Jan!

On Thursday we go out to eat as a group.  This past week we went to a lovely Italian restaurant.  The decor was nice and we took advantage of their stair case.

On Sunday we attended service here on campus.  It was family day and we were invited to attend. Two students were graduating.  These two young men have bright futures, free from addiction and serving the Lord.  We will continue to pray for Andy and Storm.

The students sang for the Family Day service. I love hearing men's voices in song.

Here is another group picture with David Kincaid, the Teen Challenge Director.  Dave also presented to us our patches.

MAPS RV Project - Teen Challenge, Dublin, GA - Jan 11 ~ 15, 2016

There have been busy bees around these parts.  We have a great crew and much has been accomplished this week.

The building that presently houses the offices is being transformed into rooms for the residents. The men are installing toilets and showers, so of course plumbing has to be joined.  Crawling under the building is a dirty job but someone has to do it to join all the plumbing together.  Thanks guys!!  There will also be a small kitchen installed.

A couple of the rooms have walls constructed dividing large room to become bedrooms.  Also, the sheetrock is already up too.  I believe the sheetrock was done on Friday, but I didn't get a pic.

In another area the men have taken the roof off of the covered walkway to make way for the pitched roof to be constructed.

The building that will become the new staff offices had a gapping opening in the front but now it has a new face, well....almost.

Supports for a covered entrance.

Electricians and are always busy.

On Wednesdays some of the women work at the Teen Challenge Thrift Shop.

Hey Joyce!

Jan works in the office.  Hey Jan, we need a pic.

Stephanie likes to work in the kitchen.

We had a delicious meal that evening.

Thursday night we all go out as a group to dinner.  I call it date night.

There's one in every crowd, but we have two.  LOL

Some of us went to the opera after dinner.

We are selfie challenged.

The opera was free.  The Dublin - Laurens Arts Council presented

"The Pirates of Penzance"

performed by

The Atlanta Opera Studio Tour

I thought it interesting how the artist changed the backdrop.
It was a fun evening.

One of the pirate ladies.  There were 5 artist in the tour group.
One of the singers is from Indiana.  Thanks Joyce (also from Indiana) for the pic.
I was reluctant to take pics during the performance, but Joyce got this one afterwards.

Our group works hard and plays too.
