Adventures With Ruby

We arrived at Travis AFB on June 5.  We had called to make reservations but never could get anyone to answer. So, when we got there, nothing was available. Site 6 was on a list for first come basis but someone was already in it. As we drove through looking for a  site that was empty, a man stopped us and said he was pulling out and we could have his space. Just happened to be #6. So, we were set for one night. The next morning, we were able to get a space for 6 nights.

After setting up in site 61, we ventured out to find the Jelly Belly Bean factory, and explore Fairfield.

Boxes and boxes of Jelly Belly.  It takes 7 -14 days to make the Jelly beans

Jelly Belly art.

The next day, June 7, we drove to Vallejo to see where the ferry was to San Francisco. We wanted to catch it the next day.  We bought our tickets, so we were all set.

We got up early to catch the ferry. We left Brindle, but some nice people we met, Mary and Chet, said they would walk him. We have met so many nice people along our journey.

The ferry was nice and even though it took about an hour, it didn't seem it.

I saw the Golden Gate for the first time from the ferry.

We decided we would hop on the Big Bus and tour the city. We knew it would take us over the Golden Gate and other interesting places of the city.

The tour was long and we didn't get off until The Golden Gate stop which was near the end of the tour.

The trip around the city was long, but I'm glad we took the tour. I would have liked to see China Town, but it was getting late and we had to catch the ferry back.

The next day we ventured out to see  Big Basin Redwoods State Park. The GPS took us on a winding, cliff hanging narrow road. We thought it had us lost, but we made it and it was beautiful. The redwoods are amazing. In that particular park, the redwoods were estimated to be 2000 to 3000 years old.

The road out of the park, which was suppose to be a better road, took us on more steep, winding, cliff hanging but beautiful journey.

We came to a "four corners" intersection and there stood Alice's Restaurant. So, we had to stop and eat.

We did end up going into San Francisco; Glenn will say he did it just so I could get a magnet of the Golden Gate....

The sea lions at Pier 39 were fun to watch. Some were being bullies and pushing others off the platform.

The next day we just rested around the camper and did laundry and prepared to leave the next morning.

We plan to go to Fort Bragg and visit Glass Beach.
