Alaskan Adventure - 6/22/14

From the Land of the Midnight Sun --  progress on the building continues even though it has rained almost all day.  The foundation has been dug and earth pounded.

Gravel unloaded and compacted.

Home Depot was a little slow delivering lumber, so you know these guys, they were a little anxious to get working and went to get some lumber just to get started.

Door frames constructed while waiting for Home Depot to deliver lumber.

Home Depot said they couldn't deliver lumber for three days but.....

Synnyo (pronounced Sonya) got on Home Depots case and things happened!!  Home Depot delivered within 6 hrs!!!!    Synnyo's favorite saying is "I can make it happen".  And she does!

     Hi Ginger!

    Pastor Dave.

Saturday was mostly rainy but we still managed to have some fun.  We drove out to where the Trans-Alaska Pipeline could be viewed above ground.

It was rainy but that didn't stop us.

After our short drive North, we ventured to North Pole, Alaska where we visited Santa's House.

Ginger got hugged by Mr. Moose.

Mr Moose gave us hugs too.

    Yes there is a Santa!!

Got to sit on Santa's knee.

We told Santa why we were here in Alaska and he ask if we were MAPS.   Found out that he is           Assembly of God too.

He said we were all on his good list except he couldn't find Al's name on any list.  Haha

Ginger and Joyce did the Midnight Fun Run/ walk.  There is a festival celebrating the Summer Solstice on June 21 with various activities and since it doesn't get dark this time of year, it started at 10pm.

A bus took them to the starting line.

    They did great!!  Finished 5k.

I may be editing this blog because better pictures are on my camera. I have the wrong connector to transfer pictures to my IPad.

Question of the day.... What is the difference between a Reindeer and a Caribou?  The answer will be on my next blog.
