Week 19/20 - April 13, Trinity Church - Miami

This is probably the last posting on our MAPS RV volunteer service here at Trinity Church in Miami for this project.  The construction is almost complete and most RVers have left for the summer.  The rest of the project will be contracted out but we contributed many hours of free labor and saved the church a tremendous amount of money.  Pastor estimated over $400,000 of contracted labor saved.

I am going to try to do a before and after look at the project.  I already know the pictures will not do justice to this large building/remolding project.

The task was to move the walls of this narrow hallway, open up the lobby space and make a nursery/toddler area as well as construct a chapel.

The men started out with this...

These walls were taken down.

Also, this large room was to become the nursery/toddler and chapel space.

This large room was on the left side of the hallway.

Nursery area is not quite finished but it is further along than this pic shows.

Nursery check in windows.

This is the new hallway and lobby area.

The windows (blue) at the end of hall is the newly constructed nursery/toddler area. View from large lobby.

This is a partial view of the expanded lobby.

The lobby is now large and very inviting to fellowship. There are five services on Sunday.  The church can be emptied and filled easier as one service ends and the next service begins.

Two restrooms were remolded.

A cinder block wall was taken down to open up a new passage way to the lower level kids zone.

Pastor Rich Wilkerson taking a swing at the block wall. Nursery/toddler wall on right.

This is the same hallway with the wall removed.  A ramp and stairs were built leading to Kids Zone.

The project was also to make permanent walls for classrooms in the kids zone area.

I didn't get a good before picture of the children's area,  but it was a large space that had removable partitions.  The space is now divided into six classrooms with permanent, more soundproof walls.

Several walls and a small ramp was taken out and now there is a beautiful more functional space for the children.

This pic was taken before all the trim work was finished.

This project required miles of electrical wire to be taken out and miles of electrical to be strung for lights and outlets.

  2. Its so good to have these photos. It seems like a long time a go. How wonderful for the Lord to care so much that he arranges buildings to be available for His children to learn. The Trinity church and network are doing a wonderful outreach. It is rewarding to be able to have been part. Glory be to God

  4. How wonderful to have these photos. Thank you. It was such a wonderful time. It seems like years ago. The progress on the church is majestic. Its been so warm and special to get to know men and women that care so much about helping build to reach the lost and encourage. It was nice to look over the photos again.
