We arrived at the SKP Park Sierra (an Escapees co-op park near Coarsegold, CA) on Monday, May 27, 2019. We were a day early and it was evening, so we boondocked near the park office. The next morning we were escorted to our assigned camp site. We have a beautiful site overlooking the valley.
After we set up, we headed to Yosemite which is about 30 miles from our camp.
The drive, Hwy 41, to the park is beautiful and takes you past Coarsegold, and Oakhurst, CA; cute little mountain towns.
After entering the park, we drove to Glacier Point road. Glacier Point road is a twisting road with a few sharp turns and steep dropoffs. But, the sights are amazing. After parking. we had a short hike to the precipice. The views are breathtaking.
The next day we left Brindle at home at took the shuttle to Mariposa Grove. I guess formally known as Merced Grove. You can only go to see the giant Sequoia's by shuttle. We had a nice time hiking the well built trail past the beautiful trees. The bark of the Pondarosa Pines are interesting to me.
I love the majestic Sequoia.
On Wednesday we drove to Yosemite Valley. Yosemite has it all, water falls, tall trees and beautiful peaks.
Fresno isn't too far away and we needed to replenish a few supplies. So, that was another full day.
When we got back, a park volunteer took us in her golf cart to view the SKP Park. It is very well laid out on the granite hill side. The sites are not too close together and it is a well kept park. I can see why there is a waiting list for permanent spots.
The next day, Saturday, we just hung around the park. Old folks need to rest. haha.
On Sunday we visited Mountain Christian Center Assembly of God church in Oakhurst. It is a nice friendly church and we enjoyed the service.
Today, Monday, June 3, we paid Glacier Point one more visit. I love that place.
Tomorrow we leave. Ruby needs a tail brake and signal light and the ordered parts are in. We will get the repair done at RV World. a Retro dealer, in Fresno. Then, we may head towards San Franscio.
Park Sierra is one of my favorite skp parks. Everyone was so friendly.
ReplyDeleteWe loved Park Sierra when we were there in 2010. Our big rig could be parked there and we could drive to Yosemite which is beautiful. We didn't get to see Sequoia that time as it was still snowed in. Fortunately we had seen it before. Enjoy your time there we love seeing the pictures.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! Looking forward to next post.
