Before our train trip to the dredge, we were given information on the pipeline.
Black gold, Texas tea (or more properly, Alaskan tea) flowing above head.
We were told about the Dredge and the process the old sourdoughs used to find that gold.
After some instruction of how to work the pan, it was our turn to try our hand at it.
We, or at least I was afraid I would wash my gold away. But, we soon learned that the gold settles down to the bottom of the pan. You just have to wash the dirt away.
We found some tiny gold nuggets! Well, I guess you couldn't really call them nuggets, but some did get the Gold Fever and purchased more poke sacks of dirt.
Prospectors who panned for gold supposedly became excited when they saw something glint in the pan, only to have their hopes dashed when it proved not to be gold but a mere 'flash in the pan'.
We ladies had necklaces made using our gold flecks.
All the crew at Dredge 8 saying good bye. I think they were the ones to hit "pay dirt".

Joyce, Ginger, Arlen and Al joined the choir.
After church, we were feed traditional Korean food.
It was a bowl of rice with vegetables, egg and meat with a spicy sauce on top. The dish is called Bibimbap. To eat, you just mixed it all up. I enjoyed it. Very tasty. The sauce is Gochujang sauce.
Part 2. Sunday.
We visited a small botanical garden on Sunday afternoon. The colors are vibrant. Hope you enjoy my sharing the pictures.
Looks like a fun yet relaxing weekend from all that work on the building. :)
