Fall Trip to Hershey, PA and Beyond

We made our fall trip up to Maryland to Hershey to visit the big RV show. We had made reservations at a park in Lebanon, PA, a central point to Hershey and Amish country of Lancaster.  We had a good trip pulling our RV and even linked up with some other MAPS RV friends.

  Jack and Georgie were on a MAPS project on our way to Hershey, so we were so glad to have dinner with them. See ya in Florida.  

Stover's Dam (RV) Park was not what the city's web page said it was, but rather what it could be.  There was electric sites but no where to get water.  The city really could make some money if only they would up grade the park.  It is a beautiful location and many locals use the park.   It is a great location to camp and see the surrounding area.

Here is a pic of the RV show... we are not in the market for a new RV but it is fun looking.  

  I think we went in just about every RV/camper and I still did not like them any better than the Montana I have. It's a good thing because they are all over priced.  

From Lebanon, we headed west.  We drove through the beautiful country of the Alleghanies. The leaves are starting to turn and the landscape is breathtaking.

Our next camping spot was near Cumberland, MD at Rocky Gap State Park.  This park is a very nice state park, but only have one section with electric and only potable water.  We enjoyed our time here.

The Boston's loved it too.

Cumberland was a unique city.  Old red brick buildings and the historic canal. 

The drive from Rocky Gap was beautiful rolling hills and meadows.  Glenn was concerned with the steep hills, but the truck did fine pulling her big load.

We went across the northern portion of Maryland through a corner of West Virginia back up into Pennsylvania, back to West Virginia, to Ohio, all in around five hours.

We arrived at our destination, Barkcamp State Park in Ohio, around 3:00, set up camp and looked around the area a little.  Here are a few sights of this park.

The little log building is where we checked in for our camp spot.  It is also the camp store.

  We have a nice camp site.  Wish we could stay longer but we have reservations at Wright-Patterson AFB.

Today, Saturday, we drove a scenic route over to Bellaire, OH.

In Bellaire we visited the Imperial Glass Museum. The old glass factory is no longer there but the museum and our tour guide was enjoyable.

There was a lamp that is very similar to a lamp I have in my collection.   Don't think I will be selling that one.  

Bellaire was an interesting little town.

This is really what RVing is all about to me. Traveling at a slow pace and staying a few days in each location, viewing the local sights.  America The Beautiful!
