Oklahoma National Memorial

While in Oklahoma City, we visited the National Memorial site of the Murrah Building.  It is a somber site, but it was built to offer "comfort, strength, peace, hope and serenity".

It reminds us that brave men and women  fight terrorism, domestic terrorism and foreign terrorism everyday.  I worked for Homeland Security with Customs and Border Protection and I know there are dedicated officers that do their best to fight terrorism and protect our borders. On April 19, 1995, US Customs, Department of the Treasury lost two officers.

We cannot say enough about our military force...the best of the best.

Gates of Time

Reflecting Pool

The chairs represent each person lost on that day and the
floor they died on, 9 floors of  the building.

Field of Empty Chairs.

The chairs are where the building once stood.

The Survivor Tree

The tree, an American Elm 90+ years old , was surrounded by burning cars.
 Still standing.

Glass base of the chairs represents beacons of hope.
