Camp Wilderness - official week two

Today marks our second week here at Camp Wilderness as official MAPS RV volunteers. Glenn has been busy working on the obstacle course. More to be built next year. He has been painting and doing a number of other task. The guys are trying to get the camp ready for this weekends Royal Ranger PowWow. Many are coming in to set up their camp for the weekend. They expect over two thousand boys.

The food for the camp has been delivered and the golf carts unloaded. Many activities and deliveries today.

One of the ranger leaders ask if I could do a couple of shirts with the emblem. I said sure. Well....he brought a number of shirts, two jackets and a duffel bag. I don't mind really. I just thought it funny that a couple turned into many.

Today was our last official morning meeting. It was Linda's birthday. And as usual, Joyce decorated to celebrate. I had monogrammed all the ladies a bag with their name on it and since this will be our last meeting, I took them to the meeting to hand out. We had a great time. I will miss these wonderful new friends.

At Camp Wilderness

We arrived on Tuesday afternoon and got set up in our space quickly. I do like our Montana. It is so easy to set up. The truck pulled the camper with easy. Thanking The Lord ....no more issues with the truck.

The MAPS team we joined here have really done a fantastic job and I think all the priority tasks have been accomplished.

Glenn started building a rope ladder for the boys on the obstacle course. More is on the scheduled for next year.

We don't know how long we will stay here. Most are leaving the first week or so in April, but we have been asked to stay a little longer... We will see. We would kind of like to stay in the area until mid May. I would like to see my brother and family from NY when they visit home (Savannah) in May. After that maybe north or at least west.

Here are a few pics.

MAPS RV Volunteers

Let the adventure begin!! Tomorrow we embark on a journey that we have thought about for awhile as MAPS RV Volunteers. And after many problems with our truck, prayerfully the truck is finally ready to tow our home on wheels.

Our first station of service is Camp Wilderness, Fort Meade, FL. If you read my blog, you can read about our experience with other MAPS RVers. Sometime in life you may not know exactly what The Lord has in store for you, but He puts people in your path to confirm what He had already placed in your heart. This was our experience when we met a wonderful group of MAPS RVers.

We filled out the application, were approved and now we are starting our adventure.

We pray God will lead us in making the right decisions of where to go and where to serve.
