Tombstone, AZ

Tombstone Visit

We left the Yuma, AZ area on Monday, November 16 to head east.  We had a very nice time visiting our family.  Grandchildren are always fun.  It was hard to leave, but we have grandchildren in the East too, plus a volunteer commitment in Georgia.

We drove to Oracle, AZ to visit family.  Glenn's cousins live there.  We stayed a couple of nights and had a lovely visit.  Thanks, Marvin, Louise and Dorothy!

Onward on our journey to Ft. Huachuca.  We stayed at the military famcamp.  It is a nice park, and the community seemed like a nice place to stay for awhile. The next morning, we drove to Tombstone, AZ  I have been wanting to see this old western town for a long time.

We took a trolley tour around the town which was very informative and included in the price was a comedy shoot'em up bang, bang show.

Cowboys roam the streets.

We watched the OK Coral shootout play.

Wyatt Earp and his brothers and don't forget Doc.

A visit to Tombstone also means a visit to Boothill.

USS Midway

While visiting San Diego, we took a self guided tour of the USS Midway.  We thoroughly enjoyed the tour.  What a massive vessel.  When you start your tour, you are given earphones and a handheld remote.  The exhibits are numbered and you punch the number on the handheld to listen to an explanation of the exhibit.  Very well done!

The USS Midway was commissioned in September 1945 and was decommissioned in April 1992.  USS Midway was America's longest serving aircraft carrier.  Approximately 200,000 sailors served aboard this carrier.

I highly recommend seeing this museum if you are ever in San Diego!

Fun Times In Yuma

This is a catching up on the happenings here in Yuma blog.  We have a week left here before we have to leave the west for the south.  We need to be home for doctor appointments and hopefully start preparing our house to sell.  Also, we have committed to work at a MAPS RV project.

On to the happenings here.....

One day Victoria and I had a grandma/granddaughter day out.  I took her to get her nails done.
First Nail Salon experience.

We then went to dinner at one of her favorite restaurants (and mine too), Olive Garden.

We split a Pumpkin Spice Cheesecake.

Then it was on to her favorite store, PetsMart.  She loves looking at the fish, birds, hamsters, dogs, cats, actually she loves all animals.  She said she would be like Ellie Mae of the Beverly Hillbillies if she could.  Right now, she dreams of having a hamster.  She is a walking encyclopedia of fish and hamsters.

Here she is playing with the kittens.

We had a fun time together.  She is very smart for an eleven year old and almost as tall as her mother.

One day we all went to the Arizona State Fair in Phoenix.

It was fun watching the kids have fun.

Even the "Big" kids had fun.

We have had a great time visiting family, I just didn't capture all the fun......

One day, Glenn and I had an overnight excursion to San Diego to the Navy Lodge on Coronado Island, compliments of Chris and Carmen.  It was so nice.

We walked along the beach....

It was a little windy and cool, but we had a relaxing time anyway.
